Comment:
I recently acquired an IBM thinkpad 755cd. I knew it was old but the price was right and it has never really been used. (i.e. no extra software) It operates on os/2 warp which I am having a tough time navigating and I would like to change to a windows operating system such as 3.X or even better 9X however I understand that you can't just drop in the windows disk and expect everything to happen for you. I only plan to use the computer for cable internet access. Can this be done fairly easily? The only catch is it does not have a floppy, only a cdrom. I don't belive this is a problem because I have a burner on my other pc.
Absent a floppy disk drive you aren't going to have much success changing anything. The quick and dirty fix would be to swap your 755CD with either a 750 or 755 and get a docking station for it on eBay. Floppy drive in the laptop and most docking stations have CD-ROM drives. I can set up a 750 with W95 and send it to you, you can either return it or send the 755CD. I don't have useable batteries for either model.
all you need is a floppy drive go on ebay and type in search thinkpad 755 floppy (any 755 floppy will work with this only costs $15.00). Then just format your hard drive and install W95. Or if your cd-rom is bootable you can wipe your hard drive and install W95 with a cd-rom. (just put the cd-rom in as you boot)
