hi..i had problems booting up my system because all i got was a black screen and no beeps...i have now noticed that that must be the case since i am stuck on suspend mode with my pressario notebook 14xl250, when i switch on and off i return to suspend mode.
does anyone know how i can boot it other wise? i tried taking the battery off and the ac off but it returns to the same state....can also someone tell me what is a cold boot and how is it done?

Marie,

OS/2 is notorious for not working well with Notebooks and Suspend mode. I'm one of the lucky one's who has little to no problem getting it to work on my Thinkpad. There may be an option in your notebook's BIOS that sets the boot option to suspend or otherwise. If it has an option to suspend to disk or memory, set it to OFF. Then try rebooting.

Cold boot is just what you are doing, powering down and powering back up in hopes of clearing a problem like you are having. Warm boot is the old three finger salute of CTRL-ALT-Delete or hitting the reset button.
