Ok here goes....I am having serious problems getting OS/2 to install on my machine. The machine is as follows: Intel Pentium MMX-166 Houston i430VX Mainboard 32 MB Sdram Memory Western Digital 4.0 gb Hard Disk The hard disk is divided into 2 primary partitions, partition 1 is 3650 MB FAT32 with Windows 98 installed. The second primary partition is 350 MB HPFS, I want to install OS/2 3 on this HPFS partition. I can juggle the partitions and hide the other partition easily by using either Win98 FDISK, or Partition Magic. However when I start the OS/2 install, the initial disk is fine, and then it starts on disk 1 and after it finishes reading the disk it just stops. It won't prompt for disk 2 or anything, it just sits there.... I have tried using the updated IDE drivers off of IBM's site to get large disk support but that doesn't help. I replaced the files OS2DASD.DMD, IBM1S506.ADD on disk 1 and edited the config.sys to say setcomfloppy=1. What else can I do? I know the disks are not bad because I tested them on my old 486 and the installation ran without a hitch.

Maybe a problem with IDE CD... Did you update the IBMIDECD.FLT file to support ATAPI ?

I had something similar recently. I ca only think of one suggestion is that when I used PQMagic, it put the OS/2 partition after the Windows partition and I had great difficulties.
I later tried moving the OS/2 partition before the Windows partition and it loaded okay. Worth a try, but do back-up your Windows as moving all that info can sometimes cause weired problems when you try to run it later.
Thanks guys, I got it to work. I moved the OS/2 partition ahead of the Win98 one and I also resized my Win98 partition to under 2 gigs to avoid the 2GB barrier boundary that OS/2 and NT don't like. I also got updated CD drivers from Panasonic.

are you trying to install os/2 beyond the 1024 cylinder limit on hard drive? A better setup would c: win98 with much smaller partition, then a logical fat drive for data, then another logical partition for os/2. Is boot manager installed? You will need it.
