serial communication on OS/2

I have a UPS connected (serially) on my OS/2 machine with serial mouse as well. When my machine boots, the UPS shuts-off. After reboot of the UPS the OS/2 machine boots again which results in shutdown of the UPS. The UPS communicates well when I temporarally disconnect the cable during OS/2 boot.
Somehow during boot OS/2 checks the serial ports. Can I disable this check somewhere? Or is there another solution?

you clearly have something misconfigured with whatever drives your UPS, refer to UPS driver/software information, this is nothing to do with OS/2 or serial port... we have UPSs on OS/2 boxes, and it just works.
