I need your help

The password to our OS/2 Server has been misplaced or changed with out being documented. When the server is brought up the screensaver automatically starts with a password and we cannot break it. The help says to turn off the server and backup if the password has been forgotten but this does not fix the problem. Is there a way to turn off the screen saver through a configuration file if I boot the server in to DOS mode? Or is there a way I can disable the screensaver during boot up? I really need your help.

Thanks

If it's a product that is not standard product of OS/2 (cfr. Lockup), do the following:
Either press CNTRL-SHIFT-F1 all the time till desktop has booted completely, and HDD monitors no activity;
OR
start OS/2 in text mode.
Then type:
1/ tedit config.sys
2/ add the line "SET RESTARTOBJECTS=STARTUPFOLDERSONLY" (Note that if screensaver is present in Startupfolder, then you should set the assignment to NO)
3/ Save config.sys
4/ type exit
This will reboot the system and should clear the problem.
5/ Normally, you should be able to launch screensaver app and re-enter password.

Good luck, JB/2.

Note that *some* people claim that you can't edit with tedit from [c:\], but they are wrong, I tested it an hour ago, and worked fine ;)
