I have a Gateway computer purchased less than a year ago and have had 2 virus infections. Because I was told Outlook Express was probably the entry point for these viruses, I tried to by-pass with Netscape 6 download. My computer is all messed up, either as a result of all the updates and downloading I've done or from the virus invasion. I have corrupt files, drivers, etc.I now cannot get my computer to recognize my ISP as Host for E-mail. If I reinstall from my Restoration CD from the factory, will this take my system to the original program settings and get rid of all the stuff I downloaded into the system..(which is what I think I want to do). I want to start from day one, as I have no critical files I would worry about. Do I need to uninstall all my external hardware, ie, printer, scanner, webcam, etc..Thank you..I really need help here!!

Cindy, you're definetely in the wrong forum - we don't do Windows here.

That aside, why don't you just try it? If you really have nothing important on your computer anyway, why not just pop that CD in there and eradicate your system? If your system is really as screwed up as you say, a fresh installation is the only way to go.
If your 'restoration cd' doesn't clean up your system, you'll have to talk to Gateway so you can get a Windows CD to do a fresh install (you should also be able to get all your required drivers from them, provided you didn't buy any additional peripherals - but then you should have driver disks for those anyhow).
