Edit your config.sys! You can do this without booting the WorkPlace Shell (ALT F1, command prompt). Add the statement "SET RESTARTOBJECTS=NO" This will cause the fact that OS/2 will startup, but without launching the startup folder apps. Then, remove the app from startup, and adapt config.sys to "SET RESTARTOBJECTS=STARTUPFOLDERSONLY". Good luck!

Under **NO** circumstances remove these lines, just add REM in front of them. This will force OS/2 to skip these lines.
Perhaps it is possible that you have more than one statements in your config.sys that launch your network card. So first find out which of them have to do with the NIC. Again, you should edit while booting to OS/2 prompt.
Shouldn't you be able to find out which line, send me your config.sys via e-mail, and we'll see what can be done.
Warped greetings,
Jonas Buys

First of all: my e-mail: jonas.buys@easynet.be.
Euhm, not easy, your problem... YMMV (your milage may vary), but try adding to your config.sys the statement SET AUTOSTART=FOLDERS,PROGRAMS,TASKLIST,CONNECTIONS. If you want to prevent network connections to load and be initialised during startup, remove "connections" from the statement.
Are you sure that your scanner is attached to a NIC network card? I didn't know that was possible?
But, you should REM the DEVICE=\SCANNER\SCANLAN.SYS statement in your config.sys. Unfortunately, this will force OS/2 NOT to load this driver, and the scanner will become unusable :(
Please send me an e-mail, with another explanation of you problem, because I don't completely understand what you're trying to say...
