I am trying to install OS/2 version 4 on a new computer. The system is a pentium II 300MHz, 64 mb sdram with a 6.4 gb udma/33 hard drive. The fixpacks ibm has (fp35 and fp6) do not work. I cannot partition the hd using the v4 fdisk or the v2 fdisk. Has anyone successfully installed this program on a new machine, and if so, how did you accomplish this amazing feat?

I had the same problem trying to install v4 onto a 5.7 gb HD. From what I found out, there is a bug in v4 that prevents partitioning of a large HD. You may want to try System Commander and then install os/2 from that.

Good Luck

I've actually installed Warp 4 on a > 4GB drive, one covered by the new IDE drivers, as should yours. Download the new drivers from IBM's device driver site, and follow the instructions for modifying the installation diskettes.

I had the same problem a few month ago : one of the possible options is to download Ontrack Disk manager on Quantum Site (if your harddisk is a quantum). I think that you can also use linux fdisk to create your partitions and boot with lilo.

Whatever you choose, you'll probably have to delete all your data on the hard-disk. I don't know PartitionMagic : it may avoid that...

And don't buy win95... It's baaaad !

350mhz/8gb,
i got around the partition problem using old faith full, "partition Magic" & nt 3.51 Fdisk
the only problem i found is wiyh the onboard network cards no drivers?you can get around that by using current compaq 3com drivers for os2
