I just recently aquired a copy os/2 warp server v 4.0 (in the sealed cardboard box)
anyhow, I tried to install it by booting the two floppy disks.
disk one booted fine,it showed the os/2 logo and all that..however when it came to the second disk it started doing something and then it quit and hung my computer.
Ok so I figured that there must be some type of hardware conflict,so I went searching on IBM's website and came accross what is supposed to be updated boot disks files???
I downloaded the files and erased the original boot disks and copied the new boot files onto the original floppies I just formated.(everything copied fine according to the installation disk setup programs)
the two setup files are named warp4iu1.exe and warp4iu2.exe (hopefully these are the correct files?)continuing on: after getting the disks prepared I went ahead and tried to boot the new installation disks....they didnt work!!!
all I got was two lines of characters on the screen,no os/2 logo or anything like that, but they did boot (beats me?!?)I tried booting both in different order..and they showed the same thing.
Does anyone know where I can download either an updated install disk set or even the originals again?I tried to use the MAKEDSKS.BAT on the warp cd but it wanted to make disks for the entire os/2 setup, which btw I don't have that many floppies nor time to spare.
at this point any help is appreciated, even If I can make some new original install disks again I would be happy...I can always wait until I find a older computer to install os/2 on.

I tried to re-do the setup disks again (under dos this time) anyhow, the same thing happened, but I did write down those two lines of chracters.
this is what displays on my screen.OS/2 !! SYS01475
OS/2 !! SYS02027does this mean anything to anyone?

The OS/2 !! thing is like the STOP error in WinNT,or the kernel panic in UNIX.I am not a OS/2 export so I can't help you.Sorry.
try to search the IBM site to find info.

OS/2 !! SYS01475 - boot record not found
OS/2 !! SYS02027 - boot errormeaning the current disk is not bootable.
There is file name cdinst.cmd/cdinst.bat which will create the installation disks needed to install from the CDROM. These files will normally reside in the root of the CDROM driectory.Remaking these install disks should correct the problem. There were known instances that some shrink wrap disks were corrupted, luckily the work around was to recreate the disks as everything is provided on the CDROM.

Thank you for the reply,I made new boot disk's by running cdinst.bat and everything was restored back to normal.
I did find out one thing ,os/2 warp server v4 is just os/2 warp 3.0 with some addon's...looks like im not going to be messing around with os/2 until I find a newer version of os/2.back to the drawing board.

You can get it to work. If you got a large harddrive, you will need to do some massaging to your boot disks with the Danis drivers.
Email me: petpipe@world-net.net and I will let you know what to do..
You can also search on the web for "os/2 and 40gb". There is an article on www.os2voice.org for 40gb drive install in their newsletter archive.
Good luck.
