Hi,
I'm trying to load OS/2 Warp 3.0 or 4.0 on a Intel P3 machine having 6.3 GB of IDE Harddisk. But it seems that it is not able to properly detect the 6.3 GB in FDISK. And I'm not able to load OS/2 on my PC.
Hi Viral. First do not use FDISK, try to get like the Partition Magic software or something. You know that FAT16 file system can see only disk capacities no more than 2.1GB. FAT32 or HPFS(OS2)will break that barrier. I hope this can help.
Actually, you _should_ use FDisk for partitioning. Do not use Partition Magic, as it tends to identify your partitions incorrectly and gives them a wrong partition type which OS/2 doesn't like (though this can again be fixed by partition magic, it's a hassle you just don't want). What you have to do is update your installation disks. Search for the string 'idedasd.exe' in this forum, get the file, read the readme and away you go. Carlos is correct in saying that 2.1GB is the maximum FAT16 partition size, so you'll want to take that into account when partitioning. Also be aware that Boot Manager doesn't like Fat32 too much - I've had problems with my setup of two primary boot partitions (one Fat32 for Wincrap, one Fat12 for DOS), BM wouldn't hide the nonactive primary correctly and all sorts of weird stuff happened. This might have been fixed by now though.
