Comment:
I have OS/2 Warp 3, and im trying to install it on programs lke Virtual PC, Vmware and the like. Problem is, altho they can read the installtion diskette which starts the install routine, it cant read disks 2 onwards - but the disks are not bad. When looking at the properties of the disks in Windows 98 or XP, it also says their capacity is 2.00KB - so anything i can do to make the disks read properly? Thanks Al
Sounds like they've been erased or corrupted if it says only 2KB. If they are the original disks they are outdated anyway and you wouldn't want to use them. You can download the updated disks from IBM. I don't have the address handy but I'm sure someone can point you to them.

The diskettes are in a special 'XDF' format (eXtra Density Format), which IBM used to squeeze more data onto less diskettes. OS/2 uses a special filter driver named XDFLOPPY.FLT in order to read them. The driver must be in config.sys: BASEDEV=XDFLOPPY.FLT
If you simply want to read the diskettes without booting OS/2 you will need an XDF-driver for your host operating system. If I remember correctly, the PC-DOS 7 diskettes where written in the very same format (and hence contained a DOS-based XDF-driver on the first diskette)
