I'm going to run OS/2 Warp4 on my new comp. but I doubt it will support my new hardware.
My hardware :
AMD Duron 750 on a Aopen AK33 motherboard
Onboard Sound (Via Chipset stuff)
Creative GeForce 256
Accton Cheetah 10/100m/bit network adapter
20gig Quantum HD
Philips CDR/RWCan i run OS/2 without any major disasters on my comp ?

Depending on which version you have, you may run up against the infamous 8-GB limitation that IBM installed in Warp 4.0 and prevents installation on large hard drives. There is no way around it, although some people have reported success copying the whole CD onto floppy disks and modifying the installation script. To do this, you need to start up Windows NT (or OS/2, if you have access to a PC running it) and run the "makedsks.bat" program. You'll need about 35 floppies, but it WILL work if you edit the script (I don't personally know exactly what changes you have to make in the script). Also, there are updated installation floppies available from IBM, but keep in mind that IBM no longer supports OS/2.

for hard drive there are new updated
install disks to dl. install os under the
1024 cylinder limit. Video card driver
handled by Scitech drivers. Sound card
will depend on chip used, rather than
brand. Cdrw scsi/ide? Network card
similar to video, chip maker more important
than brand. IBM does indeed support OS/2.
There is a new version 4.5 available in 2
flavors, 1 from IBM & also from another co.
The Danis ide drivers are highly
recommended. With the updated 3 install
disks you will install from cd as normal.

I have tried to install Os/2 Warp 4 on several computers, including one which used to run a pre-Warp version of Os/2. Each time I get a Trap 000d soon after I insert the 3rd installation diskette. IBM won't talk to me unless I buy a service contract.
