Hi,

Would like to continue on the issue OS2 WARP V.3 and Win2000 on the same computer. Questions: Which hardware max.? PI, PII or PIII do all support OS2 WARP? Which way to install Win2000 first or OS2 first? After inst. does Win2000 see the OS2 files? Can they be just send to USB memory sticks? In other words can Win2000 be used to transfer OS2 material to a safe place?

Before we get into a discourse, afaik V3 does not support USB. Compatibility issues can be resolved by using eComstation:

To answer your questions :

OS2 warp 3 supports P1 through P4 (16Mb to 512Mb ram), just make sure you used the updated installation diskette. No limit on the hardware (like cpu, chipset). Only limitation is the video card driver (which you need to default to VGA for some chips).

You can install OS2 or win2k anyway you like. My preference is to install OS2 first because you should encounter more problems for OS2 installation.

OS2 and win2k can install to both primary partitions, but one of them must be hide, ie, if you want to boot OS2, win2k must hide and vice versa. So, to see your OS2 files in win2k, you had to create a logical partition (FAT). Any files that you want to transfer in OS2 to win2k just copy over to the logical partition and then just view the files in win2k.

OS2 had limited support for USB devices. It can recognise only some thumb drives. Just search hobbes for the updated USB driver. The driver I downloaded is able to access my external USB floppy drive.

By the way, video card driver is also not a problem now. Just realised that you can use the scitech display driver, but you need to pay for it.

Thank you all for such fast replies. One short additional question. Where do I get the updated installation disk which would help tp load my OS2 warp V3.0 to a PIII or PIV?
