Comment: I need an OS2 tutor. I would like to install os2/warp 4 on my computer, I am willing to pay for successful help. My system is set up like this: Gigabyte GA-7ZX-1 Motherboard w/Duron 700 CPU 384MB PC133 Ram GeForce2 Prophet MX Video 2 Maxtor 20gig UDMA66 Hard Drives. Phillips CDRW800 CDRW Samsung 6x DVD ROM ESS Audio Ok currently my system is set up like this: On HDA I have 2 partitions half Fat32 WinME and Half NTFS Win2k On the second HD I have 10gigs BFS BEOS OS and the rest FAT32 Labeled "Backup" which i use for just that. BEOS Bootman loads itself and the NTbootmanager giving me two choices at boot: BEOS or windows, if I select windows I am then in the NT BOOTLOADER and can choose between win2k and WINME. My backup partition is close to 10gigs in size with less than 1/10 of it full, I figure I can use Partition Magic 6.01 to split that partition in half and give a 5gig partition to OS2. After I do that and make the partition HTFS, how do I go about setting up OS@. I will use any bootmanager that will work. What I am looking for is someone who will take the time to troubleshoot this with me either over the phone or on an instant message program. As I said before I am willing to compensate you for your time, thank you very much. Matthew

Reply: (edit)here is the first answer on http://en.os2.org: Re: I need an OS2 tutor (von: markus, 01:19:56) « ^ If you want to install OS/2 you probably need to do it a little different. Warp4 needs to be installed in the first 8GB of the HD so you might need to shrink your 10GB HD to 5 move it to the back, move the BFS Partion (not sure if PQM can do this) and create an partion in front of it. To get [OS/2, BEOS,BACKUP]. OS/2 comes with an BM which you can use or you can probably use the BEOS BM and simply add the logical partion for OS/2 to it. The important thing is to update your OS/2 boot floppys with the latest IDE drivers so that larger HDs are supported. Look in the software/drivers sections here on the server for an link to the newer drivers. Also add a SET COPYFROMFLOPPY=YES to the config sys on the floppy so that the install will copy the updated drivers from there and not the one form the CDROM. Driveres needed are: IDE drivers ftp://hobbes.nmsu.edu/pub/os2/system/drivers/storage/danis506r138.zip CDDROM/DVD drivers ftp://hobbes.nmsu.edu/pub/os2/system/drivers/storage/daniatapi.zip New Windows partition types ftp://hobbes.nmsu.edu/pub/os2/system/drivers/storage/danidasd.zip FAT32 drivers ftp://hobbes.nmsu.edu/pub/os2/system/drivers/filesys/os2fat32.zip
after the install add http://home.clara.net/orac/files/os2/aspirb4.zip loook at http://en.os2.org/software/driver/?group=6 for soundcard drivers for your card. As for the graphicscard I would suggest using SDD: ftp://ftp.scitechsoft.com/sdd/beta/os2/sdd-os2-7.0.5-b39.exe Markus
