Comment: Here is a problem which supposedly should have been fixed a long time ago. I tried to install OS/2 4.0 and NT 4.0 in dual boot on a Quantum LM 20.5GB. I used the latest drivers from the re-released fixpack 13. I am aware of the 2,4 and 8-giga limits and the 1024 cylinder limit, which shouldn't be limits anymore with the latest drivers. I tried to install OS/2 first on D (500MB) and then NT (1500MB). I first created the partitions in FDISK, but it always crashed during the installation process. I tried PartitionMagic 5.0, but FDISK is not able to read that information. I tried a partition program from Quantum specifically for this HD, but FDISK refuses to recognize those partitions. I have to go to FDISK to make D installable, but how do you wanna make D installable, if D is not there? I came to the conclusion that there is a bug in FDISK and that there might be problem in the config.sys too. I used the unchanged version of the Disk 1 warp4iu1.exe. I gave up after that but if anybody has a solution, I would really appreciate to hear it.

Reply: (edit)Hi Hans ! You have to update your install disks with the drivers and programs from FP13. Otherwise, the floppy disks won't recognize your HD. Simply replace each file on the diskettes with files from the harddrive where you installed FP13. The space on the disks may be too small, so erase some files you don't need (ie : drivers for IBM floppy drive, etc.) Regards Laurent

Reply: (edit)Yes, you need the updated Warp Install Diskettes and do not forget: Wherever on your big HDD you install OS/2: it has to be within the 1024 cyl's otherwise it will not run. There shall be a little trick ... ... if you have a old, small HDD: Install it to be the the last HDD and use it as a SWAPPER.DAT disk.

Reply: (edit)First, goto IBM's device driver repository, download the large hard drive fix files. Copy only the ibm1s506.add file to the correct warp4 install disk. reboot, repartition. reboot, follow normal install proceedure... installing warp to D as you would leaving "c" unformatted. After warp is installed FixPack your heart out. INSTALL MUST BEGIN WITH THE PATCHED FLOPPY PERIOD. now install NT, and correct the boot manager. all thru

Reply: (edit)O.K. Now my turn! I have a system with OS/2 installed. My partitions look like: OS/2 Boot Manager C: (Primary) Blank (left it for NT) 2055 MB D: (Extended) My OS/2 main drive 2055 MB E: (Extended) the rest of F: (Extended) my disk... NT gives me an "Inaccessible Boot Device" error! How can I get around this short of rebuilding/reconfiguring my system? I have OS/2 just the way I want it! Thanks!
