Does anyone know where I can get an OS/2 audio driver for SoundMAX's AD 1981B codec chipset. This chipset is used on Intel's D845GEBV2L Motherboard. SoundMAX acknowledges that one exists but will not send it to me, nor will Intel.

There is one driver listed in the PCI Soundcard Matrix (http://www.os2usr.org/os2sound.html) but only the A revision. You have to test if it works or not. Please give feedback on this.

The only driver I cound find from that link was the one for the AD 1881A chipset. I didn't see anything for the AD 1981A or AD 1981B chipset.

I did not find any reference on the AD1981 chipset. Are you really sure you have this one? Did you check using a pci sniffer or similar tools ?

Today I tried the AD18xx driver with a new AD1980 chipset but with no luck - the driver won't load. If you want to have sound in OS2 get a cheap sound card with the C-Media CMI8738 chipset or a SB Live!.

It's the AD 1981B for sure. It's even listed on Analog Devices Web Site stating it does support OS/2. (http://www.analog.com/Analog_Root/productPage/productHome/0,,AD1981B,00.html). Unfortunately this PC is going to be UL Listed for Fire Applications and I am trying to configure it with integrated audio, LAN and Video. If a component becomes obsolete then we would need to get a replacement and then get another listing.

Yes you're right its listed on the web site. I think Analog Devices created some kind of 'reference driver' which is given to manufacturers which integrate this chipset. But if Intel refuse to send you the driver...
