Comment: I am trying to find out the best way to configure my system to allow the OS/2 boot manager to allow me to boot to msdos6.2/win3.1, windows 98 and os/2. My boot manager set up is dos/win3.1(c,primary) and os/2 (d logical/bootable). I also have two other disks on the system all logical partions. I have not yet installed my window 98se upgrade. I have to have it to run turbo tax for 1999 taxes. Also I applied the IBM y2k fixpack that they sent me but now I get an xdfloppy file missing error. That wasn't there before. Thanks NADeane

Reply: (edit)With Boot Manager you can have two "C" partitions, it will hide and unhide depending on which you choose to boot to. Win 98 can be installed on D but a C partition must be available to it. So you should be able to leave OS/2 on D, leave C as Dos, and install Win98 on D also. This way it cannot see OS/2, but you can boot to any of the three OS's. We have done this with two C's, one OS/2 and one Win98. Make sure you have a good backup before you try this.

Reply: (edit)Win98 will trash the OS/2 Boot Manager. If you have Partition Magic 3.x, apply the patch to update Partition Magic to V3.05 or above. When Win98 trashes Boot Manager, boot up to command prompt in Win98, remove Boot Manager and add it back. This will work.
