Went to a MS BS Conference with them introducing Windows2000. Here's my sarcastic findings:

MS boasts that they now can support the Replication of Data:
Supposedly it will work.

(Works great in OS/2 LAN Server).

MS also has Network Application Icons: By clicking on an icon, it will automatically map the needed drive and launch the application. You no longer have to map the drive manually or doing it through the logon scripts.

(In LAN server its the "Public Application" folder and in Warp Server its the "Network Application" folder).

They now have Disk Quotas: why in God's name that wasn't in NT to begin with is beyond me
(In Warp Server its called Directory Limits.)

NT now has Command Line Scripting. But they no longer support BATCH scripting.
(In Warp Server its called REXX and WARP can easily support BATCH scripting)

MS now has a Telnet server:
(In OS/2 its call Telnetd)

MS will now have an NFS client:
(OS/2 has a NFS client, I used it a lot about 3-4 years ago. Works great)

MS will now support Java:
(OS/2 Warp v4.0 runs Java code out of the box)

MS will have a Common Console for Administering servers:
(In OS/2 its called Netgui)

Win2000 will have 95% less reboots. The speaker didn't mention anything about crashes or rebuilds. Either way, it can't compare with the stability of running mission critical applications on OS/2.

The audience was impressed with all these "new" features. Anyone who has worked with OS/2 has been using all these features for quite some time.

Bottom line, MS blows and I can't wait until we get another OS as an alternative.

My statement as an OS/2 user
since seven years:
Microsoft WindowsNT/95/98 is the
greatest bullshit on this planet.
Its unstable, a useless toy,
expensive and makes Billy the
Gates richer with every day. Hey
guys, buy a relly operating
system like OS/2 or get the excellent Linux and BSD for
cheap.

I hate Micro$oft with their
business practice.

I can't imagine, what the above authors mean by telling us nasties e.g. that they're hating M$.

I would like EVERYONE to install Windows, that use- and powerful OS, which was made by those great programmers that already made us happy with EDLIN!!
