I'm trying to find out the best way of opening email attachments on an os/2 machine that are sent from a windows 95 machine. The os/2 machine has office 95 and the windows machine has office 97 in which the attachments are saved and sent from. The attachments are ".doc" format and cannot be opened on the os/2 machine. This has been an ongoing issue that we cannot solve, any ideas??

Office is started up from the desktop icons. The Icon that is clicked on is a Word Icon not just Office. I'm not sure what StarOffice or Odin are.

so, you don't start MSOffice, you only start MS_Word_xx !? (xx means 97 or Word for WfW3.11) Or is it just a simple Word_97_Viewer?

StarOffice 5.1a (SO 5.1a) means that StarDivision Office_Packet for e. WordProcessing. There are some filters avilible for loading foreign WordProcessing files. SO can load Word_97 files. So, if you load that *.doc files with SO, you get the possibility to work with that files.

Odin is a project, that make it possible to run MS_Windows programs directly under OS/2. Right now, f.e. you can run SO 5.2 for MS_Windows under OS/2, instat of using SO 5.1a for OS/2

use: word2x-ex3.zip check the usual OS/2 dload sites This will convert a Word .doc file to either text or html, your choice. There are 2 versions, a simple conversion utility & a more advanced one. This is the advanced version. Can't remember the other file name. There is also a 16 bit win version of Microsoft Word Viewer, available from Microsloth. Can't find the url though. First program mentioned works acceptable.
