With a these virus's, worms, trogens floating about how suseptable is an OS/2 box without a firewall? All my ports are closed according to to the GRC port scans, I've deinstalled the OS/2 dos and win16 vurtual machines. Am I being peraniod ;). I do run Mozilla as my default web browser on all my boxes-Linux, Win32 and OS/2. And as a history lesson was there, for that matter are there, many nasties in the OS/2 world any way? I do know security though obscurity is the way to go whilst on the internet. Thanks in advance for any input.

There hasn't been a virus written to attack os/2 yet.

I saw one of the dos or windows viruses in the early days of OS/2 2.0 when an infected floppy was inserted. OS/2 said that something was trying to write to ring 0 and permission was denied.

If you have a dual boot machine with windows plus fat 16, you can managed to download a windows virus and infect something on that partition (you can do it with fat 32 if you run the fat 32 ifs too).

I have yet to get infected. I have McAfee on my Win boxes and I can scan network drives (OS/2) for any virus. I have my web server up on my OS/2 box and I am not worried. Remember, it is primarily email based, and as long as you know who your target is, then it isn't a problem.

I wouldn't trust any OS without a firewall.
