Comment:
I have OS/2 Warp 4 (fixpack 9) on an IBM PC 300PL 6584-A1U P3-733Mhz computer. The motherboard has onboard AC97 compatible sound. When I run the "OS/2 Setup and Installation" program, I want to enable my onboard sound under "Multimedia Device Support". However, I don't know which device to use since AC97 isn't in the list and IBM does not make OS/2 specific sound drivers for my motherboard. Is there an existing device (like Sound Blaster) that would let me have at least limited sound?
Look on the motherboar for the Sound chip. Hope it's a crystal chip, write down the number and check the crystal website for the drivers. Some are very new and slick winos2 support n everything. The crystal site is hard to find, but first find out who made the chip.
I've never had a problem with installing the AC97 drivers under Win9x. They seem to install under the legacy codecs quite well with the exception of 95a (for any who still use that). As for 2K, if you can get it installed I would really appreciate the info
