Yup, I bought OS/2 2.1 at a local book store (a real bookstore not some chain) for five bucks. I thought for that kind of money it would be worth installing and learning about. My problem is I can't get it to install. It comes with two boot floppies labeled "Diskette 1" and "Installation Diskette". The first disk ("Installation Diskette")boots up fine then it promts for "Diskette 1". Finally "Diskette 1" promts me for the CD and to press
.Problem, It doesn't realize that I've placed the CD in the drive and keeps on prompting me for it anyway. Is it loading drivers for my cd-rom drive that won't work with it? This is 2.1 after all and was released when Windows 3.1 ruled. I've tried booting my pc with the OS/2 cd in the drive. No luck there either. How do install this on my system? Any one have any tips, hints or guides?

Clarck,
You certainly own an ATAPI CD-Rom player, if
it is so, we'll have to make new boot disks.
Can you confirm that to me ?Laurent

Thats alright sometimes my mouth talks faster then my head thinks :)
As far as my drive is concerned its a Sony DVD-ROM drive (DDU 220E)I really don't know if it is ATAPI or not. I don't even know how to check. Beyond that my computer is a Packard Bell 350Mhz AMD K6-2 and over a year old. I know that is not a lot of info but thats all I know for sure. Perhaps you can inform me on how to confirm my systems specs.

I spent about 10 minutes looking and found lots of other people looking as well. I hope the are as fortunate as I was (or look here).
