long file names on OS/2

problems with long filenames between OS/2 and WIN95. When i want to put files over a netwerk then the long filenames are cut of to 8 caracters. what can be the problem and how can i fix this problem easily.

You don't say if you are trying
to store the long file name from os/2
TO winX or FROM winX to os/2. It
makes a differance. Going from os/2
over to a winX file system (win32),
only 8.3 will work. This has to do
with how winX stores the names. WinX
uses slight of hand (read I don't
know how it works) to store the name.
Unix, Linux, and OS/2 really do use
long file names. WinX doesn't. Os/2
uses HPFS, an installable file system
(ifs) that comes with it by default.
You can store long file names FROM
the winX box over to the os/2 drive
because HPFS supports this, and winX
can & will make use of that fact.
Win32 can't do this and I've never
seen a 'fix' for that issue.
