Okay, I run through the install (OS/2 Warp V.3). It gives me a hard time about no partitions being free, and I made a partition for it. Well my hard drive is 6gigs so it isn't the 10 limit. I'm not sure why, but I can get around it and it installs... though just on the C with windows. Well I get to instilation disk no. 7 and it asks me to restart, well I do and I get this funky error message and it asks me to write it all down, and call IBM... Well what do I do? Is it an error that they didn't find before it was distributed or should I try and find the one employie there that has heard of OS/2 and ask him what it means?

Well, I looked through all 1200 pages of the manual supplied by IBM, and I did find a list of various error messages, but the book also recommends typing in HELP (error #) to see if that can help. If your error isn't listed, then perhaps this piece of info, from page 1047, can help:
"Placing the Call to IBM"If none of our other support options have worked, you may need to speak with an IBM representative directly. During your warranty period, you can get help and information by telephone through the IBM OS/2 Help Center. At a nominal cost, expert technical-support representatives are available to assist you with questions you might have on the following:
1) OS/2 LAN Server Installation
2) Network Installation
3) Please Fill In Item #3 Here
4) Please Fill In Item #4 Here
5) Please Fill In Item #5 Here
Please note that installation support will not be provided for more than 30 days after the date of purchase, and you must have your machine type and model number ready for our support representatives to assist you. In other words, unless this is 1995, we can't help you. But we at IBM know of a great source of help, a group of OS/2 diehards on Undernet that would be more than willing to help you, because they have made it their life to convert people to the OS/2 operating system. Hopefully, they will still be around for a few more years.

I say, try Undernet. Best of luck with OS/2, I myself never was able to install it on one certain computer either.--- Lisp

are you using the new ide disk files?
ibm1s506.add, etc? The originals were made
for 4 gig or less. The latest handle all
sizes. You need to modify the files.
There is another trick using the Danis
drivers. Rename them to original name on
disk. You need about 3 files.

Can you send me the complete error message? Is something related with "OS/2 is unable to operate your hard disk"? I assumed you already updated the boot disks with the new IDE drivers but, the most common error I saw in this cases is caused by the inexistance of the line SET COPYFROMFLOPPY=1 on the boot disk 1. This causes a normal boot from the disk using the updated IDE drivers *but* the installed drivers are the original ones (copied from the CD image); then the system fails in the first hard-disk boot.

Well I can try and get the error code out to you. My version comes on about 30 disks or so, and I havn't updated any of them.... I don't know but could it have anything to do with Linux? I have linux on the box too, also my windows version is ME. Because it doesn't run DOS programs anymore I'm getting alot of grief from alot of s---... I'm thinking of just going back to 98 for simplicity. Is this a spacific undernet? I know of one that has nothing to do with OS/2 so hook me up with a URL or something.

Seriously ? I was joking about Undernet, but
maybe they really can help you. They are very smart people. Try
connecting to the IRC Undernet server and
join "#os/2".

Hmmm.... I suppose that I could give that a try. But no, I know of a webpage called "The Undernet" I wasn't thinking at all about IRC. Where do I get the IDE files to update my instillation disks?
