installing OS2 Warp Server v 4

Original Message

Subject: installing OS2 Warp Server v 4
OS: Win XP
CPU/Ram: p3800 MhZ
Comment:
Trying to install OS2 Warp Server 4 on an HP Pavilion;got the two replacement boot floppy images from Warpdoctor, created bootdisks to replace the defaults so that it could be installed on an IDE drive larger than 4 GB.
When I use the first I get an error message that the file country.sys is missing;that a line in config.sys needs to be changed.
Question : if anyone is willing to help a newbie and has encountered this problem, what needs to be done to rectify it?

Thanks

R.Dennis

Did you check for the existence of the Country.sys file in the diskette by typing at the command prompt: DIR /A | MORE in your WinXP DOS environment?

Also, is the error message more specific about WHICH line needs to be changed?

Do the errors that you obtain appear during the actual installation of OS/2, i.e., when you are feeding the installation and diskette number 1?
Or, do the errors appear AFTER the first reboot of the computer?

Exactly, how large is your hard drive?

Also, do you have WinXP in the same hard drive? If so, are you installing OS/2 W4 server AFTER the WinXP partition?

And, finally, is your version of OS/2 Warp an entry server or is it the advanced server?

It would be helpful if you included the links where you obtained the replacement images. Sometimes, the creator of those will overlook some detail that will cause problems.

Another question. Did you buy your server new? In case that the images are not for your particular server, you might make copies of your original diskettes and apply the newer IBM drivers to your copies. Nevertheless, if you bought your server used there is the possibility that the original diskettes were altered previously.

Please, provide needed info.

Get DANIS drivers and replace them on your OS/2 diskettes, or get the later version of IBM1s506 driver, FP5 or higher: "Large diskeette support" or something like that.

Do a search on the net for it, that is how I got WSeB installed.
