I am attempting to install OS/2 Warp (either version 3 or 4) onto a virtual PC I have created using Virtual PC version 7. These have been my issues:

1. OS/2 v. 4 - the CD is not recognized at all by the Mac so the CD is not being properly captured into VPC. I went into the CD through Windows and copied the diskette images, but could not copy those files to the Mac so VPC was again unable to mount the images.

2. OS/2 v. 3 - I installed DOS and Windows 3.11 onto the virtual machine without a hitch. Went to install version 3 of OS/2 and when I get to the Diskette #2, nothing happens. I seem to recall that IBM used a unique type of compression...can this be the issue?

I am hoping that someone out there has successfully installed any version of OS/2 onto a VPC machine.

Thanks for your help.

The only expirience that I have with virtual PC has been with the Wintel Version of the Software (because I don't have a Macintosh). Don't Worry though, because my expirience with OS/2 and Virtual PC have been good. I've installed the following versions:
OS/2 v2.0, v2.1
OS/2 v3.0 Warp 3 Connect (Also requires Windows to use Win-OS/2)
Os/2 v4.0

I've did the CD-ROM Installation of the software. The IBM Disk Image format, XDF, is used to store 1.7MB's on a 1.44MB floppy. This format is NOT recognized by VPC. What I would do is start the your Windows 9x/XP configuration, download and install WinImage, then make a ISO Image of the Warp 3/Warp 4 CD-ROM then copy them to your Macintosh (If Possible). You could connect to the physical CD-ROM Drive to do the installation, if it's readable the Macintosh.

The problem is I only know how to use the Intel version of VPC (Microsoft Virtual PC 2004). I heard that the Macintosh Version is Similar.

Hope this solves your problem =).

PS. Merry Christmas to the people of the computing.net forums (keep up the good work)from Snowly South Texas (That's something I thought I would never say). We had the first measurable snowfall since 1894 here in the Brownsville/Harlingen Area.
