I am attempting to install Warp 4 on a Dell Inspiron 7500, with dual boot (NT/Warp 4).
NT goes on fine, but during the install of OS/2 I receive an error saying Cannot detect Pointing device. I return the error to the program and the same again, this happensabout three times. Eventualy the install continues and I am asked to select my pointing device from a list. I selected PS/2 Style mouse. The install completes and the mouse seems OK. (touchpad mouse, I have tried with external mouse attached to the PS/2 port aswell)The fun starts when I then install a couple of service paks(Y2K). On Reboot the vmouse fails to load and the system hangs.
To get around this I reboot with the Ctrl-F1 (at OS/2 blinker) and select Maintenance mode. Open Config.sys and REM Vmouse. This lets the system boot, but with no mouse.
Does anybody now of a newer mouse driver that I may require?
In anticipation, thanks.

I have seen that problem before on installing Micron machines also. I have gotten the vmouse error on boot up and install. I have changed the mousetype to serial and the port settings. Some of the ps/2 style mice will intermitently not communicate. I have had luck just changing
the mouse and it cured itself. You could check the support.ibm.com site but I have notlooked for or am aware of a newer driver to solve the problem. Good Luck Marty
