IBM Java 1.3

Comment:
Is it possible to download the IBM Java 1.3 runtime from somewhere? I don't have IBM Software Choice but would still like to be able to run Java apps on OS/2.
Note: Apparrently, the Mozilla 0.9.6 version requires a the Java 1.3 runtime in order to render Java web pages. The 0.9.5 version had the runtime internally.

No, you either need to buy a software choice subscription or eComStation.

Ok, that sounds believable. Its just odd that the Mozilla 0.9.5 version had Java support built in. Now, the 0.9.6 version requires you to install a commercial app to get the Java portion (which is a significant part of a web browser) to work. I mean, part of the emphasis on Mozilla is that it is open source freeware.
Are there any free or trial OS/2 Java implementations that I could use instead?

Well, I am not sure if Mozilla 0.9.6. requires Java, but it could be true. I am not aware of another Java 1.3 JRE, but someone might port Kafee in the future if IBM would eventually stop supporting Java on OS/2.

Summary: I don't think you'll find that many drivers for v1.3, since NDIS 2.1 was only introduced after OS/2 V2.0 I believe. And I've never heard of a product like IBM TCP/IP for OS/2 1.3 (it does exist for O...
