Can anyone out there tell me where I can get a boot disk for OS/2 Warp 4. I bought a notebook computer at an Bank of America auction with NO SOFTWARE and I crashed the computer and now it is not booting up at all. It says I am missing files. Is there anywhere I can get a boot disk.
But my real desire is to get rid of OS/2 totally and put in Win98 as the OS. Is there a way to do that?
Please reply directly to my email: Ranger037@aol.com.
THANKS IN ADVANCED,
Jeff

Yes to rid OS/2, download a w98OEM boot floppy from www.bootdisk.com (self extracting WinImage) and use fdisk to remove all DOS and non-DOS partitions:
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;255867

Anyone know of a different place to DL a boot disc other then www.bootdisc.com? Bootdisc.com has shutdown.
Jeff

Try bootdisk.com (with a 'k'); I just got done downloading a few of them so I know it works great.
Go to http://www.bootdisk.com/bootdisk.htm for original and custom disks.

I guess that I need a lot more help then I first anticipated. I only have a CD drive, and no floppy drive. I tried to use the WIN98 BOOT (on CD-R) with no luck at all. Does anyone have any idea on how to just format the HD (Keep in mind that I cannot acces OS/s at all.)
The only thing that I get when I turn on my computer is an error message prompting me to correct the CONFIG.SYS file then restart. Thanks again,
Jeff

perhaps you need a version of fdisk such as the drdos one (which can probably still be freely downloaded with drdos), as I`ve found some fdisks can be awkward about removing os/2 hpfs logical drives, which might well exist. But its obviously difficult without a floppy drive.
Is the bios set to boot from cd, and are the cd drive cables, even, connected properly? But why not give os/2 a try? It`s a far better os than windows 9x in many ways unless you want to play certain games, much easier than linux.

The install CD for Windows 98 is probably a bootable one.Check the bios to boot from CD-ROM and try fdisk and format from there on.Good luck.

How do I fdisk?
to answer some of the questions in the above replies, I am very sure that the CD Drive works. I tried to install WinMe (when OS/2 worked) and it tole me that I do not have enough memory, but then I tried to install Win98 and it told me to do a dual boot. But now I totaly crashed the system so that OS/2 doesn't work at all. When I turn on the computer it starts to run then it stops and says "System haulted a CONFIG.SYS file is missing, fix the problem and restart."
Any ideas?
Once again Thanks to all that have/will reply.
Jeff

I buy and refurbish laptops of all makes and models, so I've been through all of this. First, I would buy an external floppy, about $49 here:
http://www.iomega.com/direct/products/detail.jsp;IomegaProdComSession=1qrbgLzSuYHsHGMhfc1yqm2Ze1xmFUyyVLOcKennCn5xg21D6p1A!-2076230955!-1817048987!7005!7002?PRODUCT%3C%3Eprd_id=5247777&FOLDER%3C%3Efolder_id=6100063&bmUID=1059760987977
I use a great floppy boot disk that I found here:
http://xtcboot.prismax.net
The process will let you delete the current partition, create a new one, and then do a clean installation of whatever version of Windows you want to use. This boot disk is compatible with all versions of Windows and I have never failed to get a PC or laptop running yet.
Good luck!
