Hi there
Some of you may have seen my post in General Hardware about my "new" PS/2 56SX machine. I have it running OS/2 2.1, so this question fits here better than anywhere else.
The Ethernet card in the machine is an SMC Ethercard Plus/A...I forget exact model but can get if needed.
I want to get this machine online (on the internet, that is). I have an existing network with a readily available connection for it.
So far, I believe I require the following:
-TCP/IP protocol to be installed
-A web browser capable of using the modern internetI have no real goals except getting it online and on the Google homepage. I have no intention of using the computer for browsing or anything, I just want it internet capable for kicks.
Can anyone point me in the right direction?
thanks

I should add, I probably also need a driver unless OS/2 is capable of using the system's ADF files (this is an MCA bus machine).

pyrolitic, I have now! lol
Bookmarked, I intend to go through it in detail later. Anything I should specifically look out for?

Not that I know of. I don't remember OS/2 version 2.1 ever being a big target as far as malware. Main thing is to keep in mind that there most of the software available there will probably require Version 3 and above.

" I should add, I probably also need a driver unless OS/2 is capable of using the system's ADF files (this is an MCA bus machine)."
Don't worry - that machine was designed for OS/2 - or OS/2 was designed for it.
It should work fine - actually, it should fly faster than it would with any other operating system (the bus architecture is very well suited to OS/2 - or again - vice versa).
As for TCP/IP, it's been a while, but I think you would need Communications Manager/2 or a similar add-on for OS/2 2.1 to enable TCP/IP support.
Warp 3 or 4 may be a better option in that respect.
