floppy drive problem

I have a dell laptop with dual boot NT OS2> The floppy drive works fine under NT but when I boot to OS2 it says its bad.

Do you even see the drive under OS/2? Check for the statement 'BASEDEV=IBM1FLPY.ADD' in you config.sys (IBM2FLPY.ADD in case you have a microchannel machine)
