FIXPAK 15 freezes COM ports

I previously was able to install networking for OS/2 and NT4 after a bit ot a struggle (see Lan Requester not Working) and thought I was off to the races. This was facilitated by installing fixpak for MPTS W08610 and fixpak for TCPIP UN9801 as well as fixpak 15 over my committed fixpak 12. The result of this success was that my com ports were frozen. I tinkered and tried all sorts of things, blaming the network setup GUI for all my problems.

So, I decided to start from scratch. I reinstalled my original Warp 4 configuration, saved on tape backup, and then I installed the fixpak W08610 for MPTS. I rebooted and checked my DOS based cadd program;digitizer worked fine. I then installed Fixpak UN9801 for TCPIP. Again I rebooted and checked my digitizer; worked fine. So, now I decided to service the system. I committed fixpak 12 (archives for older fixpaks were lost in a disk crash), rebooted, checked my digitizer, still working fine. Now I installed fixpak 15, rebooted and lo and behold, my digitizer was frozen again!

Now, while installing fixpak 15 I received several notices that certain files had a newer date than in the fixpak I was installing, presumably these files that were serviced by the other two fixpaks mentioned earlier. HELP said not a good idea to omit overwriting these, so I did.

So, it appears my problem does not lie with the networking utilities or related fixpaks, but most likely with fixpak15. Is there a certain order in which these 3 fixpaks should be installed? I know Trindflo advised I install the MPTS fixpak before the TCPIP fixpak, which I did both times and seemed to work okay. What about fixpak15, should it be installed before or after these others
or does it matter?

Thanks.

I had a similar problem, I couldn't run a proxy server on my machine with latest MPTS fixes (WSEB). After finally going to Router and other way to get to ISP, I no longer need the proxy server... so I installed MPTS fixes and it is fine.

The only thing I can suggest is that if you don't need FXPk 15, then don't put it on...
