I'm always curious to try new O.S.'s and was surprised to see this forum and learn the excellent but ill-fated OS/2 is being developed again as eComStation.

I have just downloaded the demo disk and will try it. I'm primarily thinking of business desktop usage (potentially to recommend it to customers, fed up with Windows, still nervous of Linux.)

Question: what's the state of drivers for eCS with modern hardware?

Question: does it have clients available for M$, Netware, or Linux servers?

Question: is there a good accounting software package available?

Question: what about contact management? maybe something that would sync up with a collaboration server (e.g. Lotus Domino, Exchange) or at least a database?

Lastly a comment: I never dealt with OS/2 but it is spoken of well in my networking books, at least Warp Server is. I'm really pleased such a reputedly good technology has not been left to die.

Regarding the hardware question, check out:

I believe the latest eCS release (1.2R) came out late in 2005. Check out the first URL above. You'll see some very modern stuff. Plus, people leave comments & feedback of real world experiences - what works, what doesn't & whether it works excellent, good or bad.

thanks! I'd love to see this product gain some ground.
