Comment:
Does anyone know where to get an OS/2 driver for the HP scanjet 5100C flatbed scanner? It uses parrallel port not SCSI so I can't use SANE.

I'm afraid your're out of luck. There are currently no known drivers for parallel port scanners. Once I tried to use a pp scanner driver from win-os2, but it didn't want to load the driver. So you could try it, but I have my doubts.

I found a solution on the following URL !!! http://www.scmmicrosystems.com/downloads.html?PID=16&s1=8&s2=63 I have Windows ME and the one that worked for me was EPST.exe Version 2.21. Just download the 3.9MB file and run it. It will auto-detect the chipset of your computer and it should work after that. GOOD LUCK !!!
Looking out for NT & win98 drivers for HP scanjet 5100c

THANKS, JOSUE. IN THE RESPONSE NUMBER 9, JOSUE SAYS HE FOUND IT. YOU JUST HAVE TO GO TO http://www.scmmicrosystems.com/downloads.html?PID=16&s1=8&s2=63 THEN DOWNLOAD THE EPST.exe THAT YOU NEED (WIN95,WIN98,WINNT,WIN2000, ETC.). THIS IS ONLY THE DRIVER THAT SUPPORT THE SCANNER, REMEMBER THAT YOU HAVE TO INSTALL THE SOFTWARE TO USE THE SCANNER, FOR EXAMPLE, THE HP PRECISION SCAN 2.0. SO, FIRST INSTALL THE HP PRECISION SCAN 2.0 (DOWNLOAD IT FROM WWW.HP.COM) AND THEN INSTALL THE EPST.exe FROM THE HOMPAGE URL.

I also found that if you don't have anything for your scanner. That if you go to the HP website and then downlode and install the big 17MB file install it and then download the update and install it. It to fixes the problem.

Is there a DOS driver available for this scanner. It supports SCL, but I need to find a driver that is similar to SJII.SYS or SJIIX.SYS but for parallel port based scanners.
Thanks

I too upgraded to Windows XP and am having trouble. I loaded the original scanjet ver 1.01 which installed the software and drivers. Then I downloaded the update software version 1.02 from HP and it deleted the drivers previously installed. I reinstalled the original CD and I can get the scanner to work but it does't give me all the proper applications on the pull down list.
