Hi,
I would like to know the differences between OS/2 and OS/2 Warp. One of my clients said that his organization was using OS/2 ver 3.0 and OS/2 4.0 and it has GUI as well (Being a non-technical guy, this was what he could tell). Now my query is (Assuming OS/2 and OS/2 Warp are different), If I develop some software for OS/2 Warp 3.0, can I use the same with OS/2 Version 3.0?

Hi Raghu,
I am not by any means an OS/2 expert but, as far as I know, OS/2 'Warp' is the name for OS/2 version 3 with its GUI, as distinct from earlier versions.
It also became the name for version 4, although I believe this was originally called 'Merlin'.
Can anyone else confirm?
Regards,
Jon G.

Yup, there's no difference. OS/2 went from version 2.1 to Warp 3. And since the guy wasn't a tech type, he just probably said version 3 & 4. Of course he was right on that, it is version 3 & 4 of OS/2. :)

Raghu, any software you'll be writing for OS/2 Warp 3 will run nicely on Warp 4 and Warp 4.5 aka as "Merlin Convenience Pack 1 and 2" or the new eComStation.
Contrary to the Microsoft offerings, OS/2 is _really_ protecting your software investment, meaning: you don't have to buy all of your software over and over again because you bought an upgrade to your operating system.

I am trying to run OS/2 Version 3.0 on a new 845 chipset Intel motherboard, however I can not get it to load. I am able to get version 4.0 to load on a new P4 system. Can anyone tell me the difference between the two versions of OS/2? I need to run version 3.0 on the 845 motherboard. Thank you!
