Comment:

After a long and tedious journey to get Warp 4 networked to my NT 4 box, I finally had success. This involved installing fixpaks for both MPTS and TCP/IP, plus adding Fixpak#15 as a bonus.

I have complete peer-to-peer access between all combinations of NT and Warp 4 on both machines, but I haven't tried TCPIP since my success with PEER. Perhaps I'll take the plunge today.

What concerns me is that ever since installing networking for OS/2, I haven't been able to use my COM port(s). I have a digitizer on COM 2 that I use with a cadd program. The Cadd program starts up (sometimes not) but the cursor is frozen. Any ideas out there?

Thanks.

Hi your com port request prompted me to look in my OS/2 v2.1 manual.

You may have to add a line to your config.sys file-

DEVICE=X:\OS2\COM.SYS (n,x,i,s)

x dive os/2 is installed
n comm port no (1,2,3,4)
a comm port i/o add in hex (eg 03E8 02E8)
i irq
s spurious interupt handling switch(what everthat means ;) Valid settings D or I.
D uninstalls interupts if moretha 1000 spurious interupts come in conscutively.
I ignors these.

EG to install com3 at address o3e8 on irq5 assuming 0s/2 is installed on c:.

DEVICE=C:\OS2\COM.SYS (3,03E8,5)

Hope this helps.

Mark
PS I won't post this on tektips ;) as caluser.

I tried the above but to no luck. Since the com ports won't be shared (ie, printers or plotters) for output devices, I decided to delete them from sharing and various permission settings, going to my cadd programs DOS settings to gain control of Com port, etc., but still not luck.

This problem did not occur when my networking was not properly configured, only afterwards.

Thanks.

Real wierd.

I'm stumped sorry.

I'll keep an eye out though for possible solutions.
