Check the CMOS battery. Chances are good that the battery is dead and not allowing the system to precess CMOS (Bios) data.

I had this same problem today actually. But it was resolved fairly quick. If you have any extra USB on your Motherboard, unplug them from the motherboard. If they are plugged in wrong, it will halt on that same spot.

my system halted, froze, I think me bios is dead, I need to warp to another board , and burn a new pcchips config for the m570, I really liked this board , and would like to wake the dead again, it sucks! , I have many intigrated board, 15 0r more, Bios is a major factor, I am going to burn the bios on another mother board that works, then tranplant the bios to the failing board, this i hope will fix the Checking NVRAM error , we are talking about, the battery did not help, I am at least hopeful, as I still reach some post, that tells me I well prevail , or end up buying another board. but the point is i need this board , end of line!!

It's not over yet...
Your board might have a "boot block BIOS" which will allow you to boot to an ISA video card, a floppy, and keyboard support. This should let you fix your BIOS. Do a search for boot block bios, and you''ll get instructions.

I have had this same hangup, but only after trying to replace memory (4x16mb) with an upgrade (4x64) using 72pin SIMM memory. Any thoughts on how to get the system to recognize the new memory?
Thanks.
