Change the name through a variable

I already know how to do an append using FTP. For example, to append a file1 to a file2 using the FTP: append file1 file2
But my doubt is how can I do that passing two variables containing the date and time? All that in the a CDM file so it's easier to manage. For example:

Var1 = date
Var2 = time

append file1 file2(Var1)(Var2).txt

Is it possible to change a name of a file concatenating the actual name plus the date and time so the file will have a name like: file2-200308270605.txt
