Hi,
I've worked 4 days on the installation of OS/2 Warp 4.56 on a laptop without any success.
I can't find any solution on the way to solve this problem.
"OS/2 can't operate your hard drive"Do you have any idea ??
Thanks for any help..Herve

I decided to use the latest Daniela Engert’s drivers : Danis506r181 (in replacement of IBM1S506) and Danidasd144 (in replacement of OS2DASD) on the diskette 1.With the verbose mode, here's the problem:

OS/2 can’t operate your hard disk or diskette drive. Correct the preceding error and restart the system.I spent 4 days testing different procedures found on the web.

Did you use the updated floppy diskette set ??

If no go, you may have to install eComstation:

Perhaps you should do a Google search on the error-message (it is a well known and documented 'feature' of installing OS/2 on newer drives and PC's). It will also point i.e. to:http://www.os2voice.org/VNL/past_is...

Are you using usb floppy drive to install ?
I encounter that error message while installing on a ibm i series laptop using usb floppy drive (since no built-in floppy drive), and that was
3-4 years ago.You can try the following :
1. Take out the laptop hdd, connect it to the primary master of the desktop using the 2.5"-3.5" connector, and then install os2 as per normal with the desktop floppy drive. after installation plug back the hdd into the laptop and it should boot up properly. If can not boot up properly then you can replace with the DANI ide drivers in the config.sys, by booting up with win98 floppy diskette and dos-edit (your os2 c drive must be FAT formatted).2. if you don;t have the 2.5"-3.5" connector, you can install the os2 on a desktop first, image the installed os2 onto a cdr, and then image back to the laptop hdd. I prefer to use symantec ghost, but other imaging softwares may also do the job.
