Hi, I don't think this belongs in this forum, but what the hell...

I'm putting a computer together...when I boot up for the first time, all it shows on the screen is the info of the video card...and stops there....goes no further....
One question, when the computer is turned on, what is the order of *things* that it does??? Cause I dunno where the problem lies...It doesn't even do a RAM test or anything...
your help would really be appreciated...
...vege...

Youre right, wrong forum... however...

Is there a beep code when you turn the power on to the computer? Each BIOS has a different set of beep codes, but that would be the first indication if something is wrong. For instance, my cpu beeps 3 long beeps when it cant find my video card.

If there is no error code (beeping) when you first power on, just start removing hardware. Take out the video card, see if it beeps then, or if it boots properly. Take out your ram, try different ram etc etc... finally, you should take something out that will allow it to boot.
If not, then youve got an OS problem (most likely).
Reinstall drivers blah blah blah... try reinstalling the OS if you have to.
Depends on the severity of the problem.

You kinda gave a vague discription of whats wrong, so I cant help you much more than that.

Sorry.

Removing possibly offending cards can be the road to true happiness in this case - however, you will need to remove all possibly offending cards _but_ the video card.
Without it, the computer won't start, making all further diagnosis impossible. Might want to swap it for another video card. Ask a friend for a different card, just for testing.
