Hi there,
I'm an old Warp 3 user and forgot everything over the years...
Now - I want to install Warp 4 (US) onto an "old" Mitac 5033 Notebook (233 MHz P2 with MMX, 64 MB RAM, 6.x GB HDD, DVD/CDRW.
Multiboot environment with Linux and Win2K.
Ok what I did is:
- update install-floppies (lates 506 and cdr-drivers)
- partition the HDD with Warp4-fdisk (everything else fails, because someone does not understand what a OS/2 boot manager is good for)
- install WIn98 on C: (1800MB) on FAT16 (will convert to FAT32 later, when OS/2 is running and reading FAT32)
- leave D (1800MB) empty/unformated
- install OS/2 on E: (600MB, HPFS). Works fine, but only VGA and no network.
- try to install Fixpak 15. Installs, processes locked files at next boot, FREEZES immediately after reaching the desktop.
- reformated E., reinstalled, installed Fixpak 8 (idea: maybe FP 15 missed the external driverpak, which is still included in FP8). Same: FREEZE after reaching desktop.
Now the question: What am I doing wrong, what can I do to get rid of the freeze? I do want to run Odin and WLAN (Realtek-PC-Card) at the end and access C: and D: with FAT32. So I guess, there will be no way to get there without any fixpak!?
Why is this stupid thing freezing anyway? Should not be a driver, since the boot is complete, sound played, desktop printed to screen...
Does anyone have an idea, what other software will work for me (to get internet and WLAN-card running?)
Any suggestion?
