Bad or Missing Command Interpreter...

Comment:

I have os/2 warp 4 and win 3.1 .
I used to have a disk drive (A:/) but it was accidentaly distroyed (don't ask). When I had the drive I ran Win 3.1 from a disk and Os/2 by just not having a Win 3.1 system disk in the drive. Then it broke and could only run 3.1 from Win/OS Dual Boot. But right after it broke when I was in OS/2 I clicked on DUAL BOOT. The screen printed starting PC DOS... then the error came up --- Bad or Missing Command Interpreter (eg. C:\command.com)
And since my command.com was on my A:/ drive
it was stuck there. I now can't get it out of PC DOS. I have tried pressing ESC and typing exit but the error still comes up again. I also tried C:\command.com and C:\windows\command.com both dont work.

I tried rebooting but it will only boot to this OS/2 PC DOS and give that error. All I need is a way to get out of PC DOS or a way to get a new Command Interpreter to work and get rid of that error message (without using the A:/ drive of course)

Please help either email or post a message here!!
Thank you

Reply to response 1.
As long as your floppy drive works, you just boot with the installationdisks that comes with OS/2 and presses F3-command line when the installation program offers you the choice.
From commandline just write boot /os2
and you're off. I am not sure if the boot command is on the diskettes or on the CD so put the cd in the cd drive just in case. The utilities are usually found under \os2image\disk_2 and disk_3

I need to reinstall command.com. I don't have a boot disk, but I do have the CD-ROM. How do I extract that file from the CD-ROM.

I dont know if u've fixed this problem or not but i had it a few times myself. The cure is to work from the boot disk even if the a: drive doesnt seem to work. But if u need a boot disk, go to this site: www.bootdisk.com.
After that, put the disk a: drive, boot the pc & u will still probably get the missing command.com msg.
The trick here is to type "a: sys c" in one go (without the ") then enter. Like..dont try to change to the a: drive first. The c: drive should start whirring away & u'll get the msg "System files copied"
I cant quite remember whether at this point u will have an a:\ or c:\ but if its a:\, then change to c:\, take out the floppy & reboot. U should get the DUAL BOOT screen....i hope...lol
