Comment:

Has anyone tried installing drivers for a agp video card with a Savage4 Pro chipset in Warp 4. I tried the Savage drivers v. 7.00.29 and it doesn't boot. I get past the boot logo and then there is some disk activity and then I get a blinking cursor in the upper left corner - and that's it! Could it being an agp card be the problem or is the Savage4 Pro chipset not supported with these drivers. I noticed it did say Savage4 in the readme file but this has a Savage4 Pro chip on it. It would be nice to have more then just 640x480x 16 colors.

Thanks,
Adam

Hi,

It's not hanged but the machine are extremelly slow. In my tests here (Savage 4 IX/MX) with this problem the machine boots and opens the WPS afeter 30/40 minutes. If you're getting the same problem comment the line with loads VPRPMI.SYS on the config.sys, this has solved the problem here.

That's the line from my config.sys...

rem DEVICE=S:\OS2\MDOS\VPRPMI.SYS

Hi Perry, thanks for the reply. I tried your suggestion and it is still exhibiting the same behavior. After you remmed that line out in your config.sys file, how long did it take to boot up. I am just wondering if it just doesn't support this particular chipset. I downloaded these drivers from hobbes v. 7.00.029 I believe was the release number. The release number on the drivers from s3graphics website are older - v. 7.00.22 I think. Anyother ideas?

Thanks,
Adam

Either go to IBM device driver pak online
and download the scitech software drivers for the video (supports a long list of video
cards)or go to www.scitechsoft.com and download from there. The nice thing about scitech drivers is that you can change video
cards WITHOUT having to change drivers it will automatically recognize the different
video cards and act accordingly (TRUE PLUG
and PLAY)

Thank you for pointing that out. That is exactly the package I needed. Installation was easy and it works wonderfully with my video card.

Adam
