Bloody complicated.!

But you have not stated any info that would enable anyone to help you with.

1. How big are your hard drives?

The original Warp 4 was released before large hard drives became available and has not been officially updated at all, until very recently.

You will have to modify your "Installation disk 1" (ie. the second actual disk in the 3 disk set).
You need IDEDASD.exe from the IBM Device Driver Site main page:-.
http://service5.boulder.ibm.com/2bcprod.nsf

Short cut direct to section applicable:-
http://service5.boulder.ibm.com/2bcprod.nsf/WebCat?OpenView&Start=1&Count=300&Expand=26.1#26.1
What you want is under:-
"Greater Than 8.4GB IDE Hardfile Support"
And also:-
"To Create Additional Space on Installation Diskette #1"

With no prior os/2 experience you should also haunt the comp.os.os2* newsgroups.

Either make the neccessary modification above or wait a few weeks and buy eCS or the already released IBM MCP. Both of these are fully updated and are really Warp 4.5 (not 4).

I assume the various Partition Magic versions you have installed do not report any partition errors. If "Partition Error #120" occurs, this will mean that you have created a logical partition with one of the Linux Fdisk equivalents.

You must NOT accept Partition Magics' advice to convert extended partitions to ExtendedX type, either.

Going to bed now, over to you.

Continued next morning :)

I forgot to mention that if you are installing Os/2 of any version on to a drive letter (primary or logical drive), other than drive c: then you MUST install IBM's BootManager.

BootManager requires a Primary partition on the first drive and you may have to temporarily remove one of your existing primary partitions for the install and then afterwards you can delete it and use any other boot manager or system of your choice.

The only time you are not required to install the IBM BootManager is when installing to a primary Drive C:.

During the install you will be presented with a screen showing 2 choices. Easy or Advanced Install.
You must choose Advanced.
When in the Fdisk screen, you must choose to install BootManager and then choose or create the partition where you wish to install Os/2.

You must also set that installation partition "Installable".

One other note, Win2000 will destroy BootManager when you shut win2000 down UNLESS you have installed SP2 for Win2000.

Good Luck.
You need it.

a lot packed in to a tiny space but except for my vidio configuration and modem all standardized and for an open architecture system i have not tried to implement the large drive drivers yet but now 2 questions come up one how do i implement them like i said complete moron when it comes to os/2 warp 4 second i tried changing my ide configuration because i know some versions of linux and unix dont like more than two drives on my ide accelerator card and now i get some funky error codes whenever i place the second install disk in after the blue welcome screen all goes to hell i returned my configuration back to normal and nothing i get the same garbage ive made several copies of the disks both post and pre change all get the same error i can copy it if you need but ive even tried removing all partitions from my hard drives to allow the install to create its own to allow install and still the crazy message help or i give up and ill just see if i can run the damm thing emulated on my current operating system thanks in advance i know im being kind of a pain in the but with this question but its frustrating to have gotten the hang of all theese other operating systems on my own and yet come to a screeching halt on one thats supposed to be a windows clone or vise versa thats utterly hummiliating....
