Hi
Could any one please tell me why the instruction find is working in the DCL in some open vms version's and not in others. This find actually shows the subdirectories and files inside a file given
syntax is
find <directory name>

It could be one of two things.....

(1) FIND can be a symbol.

$ SHOW SYMBOL FIND

(2) The logical DCL$PATH can be in use.

$ SHOW LOGICAl DCL$PATH

If the logical is used, try

$ DIR DCL$PATH:FIND

FIND is not a standard OpenVMS command, for any version of OpenVMS since the initial release of VAX/VMS.

I expect that the difference that you are seeing is one system to another (or one user to another), not different versions of OpenVMS.

As suggested by the previous poster, I would track down exactly what is happening on a system where your individual login context appears to have a definition for FIND.
