Hi all,
Firstly you will have to excuse the fact that I am a bit of a novice when it comes to upgrades, so excuse me if I get some termanology wrong. I hope you will understand what I am talking about.

Is there any one there who can tell me if it is possible to run a AMD-K6-450 CPU on my TX Pro II motherboard, and if so, what the clock speed and multiplier settings should be?. The best a can get I think is around 415 (5x83). can I run the chip at this speed or is it safe to overclock to (5.5x83=456.5) without doing any damage?. Also I have been iven 32mb SDRam but it is Pc 100, can I use it?

Hello everyone.
I was given this motherboard (TX PRO- II) with a 200mhz cpu I'd like to know if anyone out there knows if this motherboard can support a k6-2 500 mhz cpu.
And if I would have to do any adjustment on the jumper settings.
I really would appreciate your info.
Thanks

Bob,
I've been doing some research on this for my own motherboard and I've found that we may be able to use a AMD K6-2 500Mhz with multiplier set to 2 which the K6 interprets as 6x and the clock speed set to 83Mhz. 6x83~=500! I found this at http://www6.tomshardware.com/cpu/00q4/001106/amd-03.html. The most important thing is that your board support 2.2V core. Mine does. I haven't actually tried this yet but intend to.

Hey Bob,
Since the motherboard doesn't have a 100MHz bus the best thing you can do is 5.5x83. But if you had a better board that was made for that processor it would be good to run it at 100x4.5. And I am assuming that you still have your old 66MHz SDRAM, if you system is running unstable it may be a good ideas to get some PC100 or PC133 ram.

And to Haris,
Sorry for ya, I don't think that board will work with that big of a drive. You can try finding a BIOS update but I think it is the chipset on that board that is restricting your drive size.

I am looking for some drivers that go with that board, if any of you have the origional CD or have downloaded the drivers please contact me so we can work something out.

Thank you

~caleb

Regarding popping a K6 into the TXPro-ii, although you can set it to 5.5x83 as per the manual, when I have the K6 in there I get the dreaded lockup during the NVRAM check, at every/all clock speed & multipliers. Putting an old Pentium 166 chip in there gets past the NVRAM check, in fact I actually got the Update Ok! message. The same K6 chip works in other systems.

However, even though it seems to recognise a bootable hard drive, as soon as it gets past that point it just goes blank.

Likewise all floppy drives get Floppy drive error, press F1 to continue. Pressing F1 goes into the blank screen thing. Bah. If anyone has any helpful advice send it along email and/or post it otherwise this thing is just a dust collector.
