Hello,
I am trying to test Dec drives on an AlphaServer 800 with Open VMS Operating system. I have never done anything like this before. Would anyone have any suggestions on how to start?

Jeff,

Do you have more details about the hardware configuration?

Once the drives are plugged in, you should use the SYSMAN utility's IO AUTOCONFIGURE command to bring up the devices.

Once the physical devices are online, you can then initialize the disk volumes using the INITIALIZE command.

Depending upon what you actually want to do with the drives, a "testing" procedure can vary. In particular, what are you planning to use these drives for?

I hope that the above is helpful.
