Comment:

I am new to VMS, have taken one training class, and now have an Alpha box to work with. It has a SCSI DLT tape drive attached, but I cannot determine the device name for the drive. In my class, I learned that tape drives have a device code of MU, but I have no devices with that device code. Can somebody help me? thanks.

Reply:

MU = unibus/Q-bus tapeunit on a VAX

Alpha = probably MK

Or you might have a logical to it. Do :
$ show log *tape*

Otherwise try any device that starts with the letter M but not with MB (=mailbox).
