Switching Simms

Would it be alright to take simms from one computer and put them in another even though they are different kinds? I think they will fit in the slots.

I wouldn't. You need to be certain they are the same speed and VMS systems sometimes require SIMMS to be installed in a certain order. Just beause they all fit in the slots does not guarantee that they will work correctly.

It won't hurt anything to try it. You can on alot of systems have different memory installed as long as it is in matched pairs. The only problem I've noticed is if the system was made before 1998 about 35% require a 2K refresh rate. 4K will still work but the timing will be off and you won't have all the memory you installed like I had 4 32mb sticks all the same and all good modules and only got 96mb Now remember that in simms there is usualy two banks of two so you can put a matched set in the first two slots and a different matched matched set in the second two slots.
