Hi Guys,

I'm having problems doing a monthly backup on an openvms system, however the weekly backups are doing fine.
I use hp dds-2 tapes, when I do the monthly backups,(after initialising, mounting and typing the backup command
the saveset runs for about 10 mins before)I get the following error:

Saveset Volume1, data not copied
Backup-e-fatalerr, fatal error on mka500:[]system.bck, system-f-parity, parity error'

I hope you can offer me some suggestions or solutions,

Thanks in advance,

Sean

Thanks very much everyone

Try backing to "NeverEverLand" to rule out the input parameters.

Use NL: instead of MKA500:

NL: is the NULL-device.

Have you use a cleaningcartridge on the tapedrive ?
